Delegate But Don’t Disengage
A good leader understands that delegating is not a license to disengage from the process.
Good leaders will allow others to take leadership roles but will stay involved in the activity and work. You see, very often a leader will delegate and then disengage. BIG MISTAKE. Your staff will notice the first sign of apathy or disinterest. Don’t misunderstand. Don’t micro-manage but, do stay engaged in the daily work. So often visionaries get bored and move on to the next thing while the team is still struggling to finish the last project. Your staff will do what you do. Your team will act the way you do. The culture of any organization takes on the personality of it’s leadership. If you don’t like your corporate culture, it’s probably your fault. Stop disengaging and pay attention. You won’t believe what you’ve been missing.
