Oh, O.K.

Each week for about the past 55 weekends, I have made a trip to Hampton, VA.  This particular weekend my daughter, Tyler, decides to go with me.  On the way home, as usual, traffic was horrible on Interstate 64 West.

The Unseen Cost of Legacy

As I watch the drama of the BIG THREE automakers unfold, my first reaction is to smugly say, let them go out of business.  They are getting what they deserve.  After consistently caving in to the greedy Unions, offering pension plans and promises they can’t afford and repeatedly rewarding incompetence with huge salaries, big bonuses and golden parachutes for the CEO’s who actually do get terminated, what can they expect?

Think about it.  The problem with the BIG THREE is not that they produce a bad product.  It is not that they cannot deliver.  It’s not even about the actual cost of the product.  Their problem?  Legacy. Read the rest of this entry »
